Job summary

State-of-South-Carolina seeks a heavy equipment operator for highway and bridge maintenance. You will operate ditching tractors, excavators, motor graders, backhoes, and dump trucks, performing daily maintenance checks and assisting with safety and traffic control.

Applicants should have at least one year of related experience, a valid driver's license, and must obtain a Class A CDL within six months of placement. Extended hours and on‑call work may be required.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment (ditch­ing tractor, excavator, motor grader, backhoe, dump trucks, lowboy/Trailer) for highway and bridge maintenance.
• Assist with safety practices such as flagging, PPE use, vehicle safety, and site hazards.
• Coordinate placement of traffic control devices and maintain daily work records.
• May require extended hours, on‑call shifts, or 12‑hour shifts.
