A leading government administration in Chaska is seeking a Highway Maintenance Operator. This entry-level position involves skilled labor in maintaining county highways, bridges, and properties, often in challenging weather conditions. The Highway Maintenance Operator provides skilled, semi-skilled, and manual labor in the maintenance, reconstruction, building, and repair of County highways, bridges, parks, fairgrounds, courthouse, and all county properties. Most work is performed outdoors, often in hazardous and inclement weather, including weekends, nights, and holidays as required by weather and maintenance conditions. The work is mostly independent of technical supervision and involves maintaining and repairing highways and bridges in both rural and suburban areas, as well as participating in improvement projects for highways and county-owned properties and buildings.
Responsibilities include performing maintenance and diagnostics of vehicles and equipment, minor repairs, and being available for 24/7 call-outs for highway maintenance issues. The position is subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing under 49 CFR Part 382 and 49 CFR Part 40.
