Job summary

State-of-South-Carolina is seeking an Equipment Operator to operate medium duty equipment including tandem dump trucks and belt loaders. The role involves flagging traffic, removing litter from right-of-way, and supporting emergency operations with potential extended hours and 12-hour shifts.

Eligible candidates may have 6 months related experience or equivalent, plus a valid driver's license and eventual CDL-A within six months.

Qualifications

Six months of related work experience or an approved acceptable equivalence.
A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six months of placement in the position.
Physical demands include bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling and grasping; able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

Operate medium duty equipment such as tandem dump truck hauling materials to and from job sites.
Operate medium duty equipment such as a belt loader.
Operate small equipment such as a pipe washer, trailer mounted.
Flag traffic to ensure safety of co-workers, traveling public, and equipment.
Remove litter and dead animals from the right-of-way.
Assist with emergency and inclement weather operations; may include extended hours and/or 12-hour shifts.
