Job summary

Qualifications

• Education/Experience: Equivalent combination of 1 year of education and experience after completion of high school.
• License/Certification: Valid Commercial Driver's License, Class A (CDL-A) with appropriate tank endorsement.
• Other Requirements: MVR must meet minimum standards; CDL medical card required unless already state employee; negative pre-employment drug screen per CFR and DOT; ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs; telephone or equivalent communication and be available 24 hours.

Responsibilities

• Operates and troubleshoots complex highway maintenance/construction equipment and vehicles.
• Maintains assigned equipment and performs field repairs to ensure serviceability.
• Observes winter road conditions and determines plowing/abrasive spreading actions per safety policies.
• Supervises and trains small crews to ensure safe, compliant maintenance methods.
• Must respond to winter maintenance/traffic emergencies on a 24-hour basis.
