Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks an experienced crew foreman to supervise maintenance crews on the state highway system, overseeing road and bridge work and coordinating equipment and materials.

You will ensure safety, manage daily work plans, and maintain records, with emphasis on traffic control, vegetation work, and adherence to agency guidelines. CDL is required and Class A to be obtained within six months.

Qualifications

• 3.5 years of related work experience.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
• Must obtain Class A CDL within six months of placement.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance on roads and bridges on the state highway system.
• Operate motorized equipment for construction and maintenance activities.
• Supervise crew on Special Projects/Drainage/Vegetation Crew.
• Instruct crew on safety practices and traffic control per SCMUTCD standards.
• Plan daily work schedules and track time, materials and equipment usage.
• Coordinate emergency and on-call operations and other duties as assigned.
