Job summary

The Town of Ashland seeks qualified, experienced, and energetic candidates for the Light Equipment Operator role in the Highway Division of the Department of Public Works. The position requires a High School degree or equivalent and the ability to obtain a Massachusetts CDL Class B permit within 6 months and a full license within 1 year.

The incumbent will operate construction and maintenance equipment, perform basic repairs, and support snow removal efforts.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required.
License/certification requirements include a CDL Class B permit within 6 months and full license within 1 year; Hoisting Engineer 2A and 1C endorsements within 6 months.
Ability to operate basic construction tools and equipment; adhere to safety procedures.

Responsibilities

Drive or operate vehicles and equipment for construction, maintenance, snow removal, and related projects.
Repair and construct streets, sidewalks, signs, fences, drainage infrastructure.
Operate small/light engine equipment and hand tools.
Perform preventative maintenance on equipment (oil, water, battery, tires).
Assist other departments as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Working Foreman.
Be available for snow operations and emergencies outside regular hours.
