Job summary

The Town of Ashland is seeking qualified candidates for the Light Equipment Operator in the Highway Division of the Department of Public Works. The role focuses on construction and maintenance of municipal roadways under supervision of the Working Foreman.

Primary duties include operating vehicles and equipment, repairing streets and drainage, and performing preventive maintenance. You must obtain a MA CDL Class B permit within 6 months and a full license within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Drive or operate vehicles and equipment engaged in construction, maintenance, snow removal and other projects.
• Repair and construct streets, sidewalks, signs, fences and drainage infrastructure.
• Work with small/light engine operated equipment and hand tools.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and vehicles (oil, water, battery, tires).
• Assist other departments as needed and perform other duties.
• Be available for snow operations and emergencies outside regular hours.
