Job summary

Louisiana Department Of Transportation and Development seeks a supervisor for the Oberlin Maintenance Unit to lead Mobile Equipment Operators in highway and bridge upkeep, reporting to the Parish Highway Maintenance Superintendent.

The role includes daily reports, materials orders, crew guidance, and participation in emergencies, with night work and occasional disaster support as needed. A Class A CDL and related training are required.

• Four years of experience in the construction, maintenance, or repair of roads, bridges, levees, drainage facilities, wharfs, buildings, or grounds.

This position supervises a crew of personnel and manages assigned work activities in the Oberlin Maintenance Unit (D07 Jennings Maintenance/U540) and reports directly to the Parish Highway Maintenance Superintendent.

While in official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Service laws, rules, and regulations, as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals, and directives.

Minimum Qualifications

• Four years of experience in the construction, maintenance, or repair of roads, bridges, levees, drainage facilities, wharfs, buildings, or grounds; OR
• Four years of experience in the operation or maintenance of industrial or heavy mobile equipment.

Position-Specific Details

• Must maintain a Class A CDL license and meet all structured training requirements
• Random drug testing is required
• Computer skills, cell phone, and PDA knowledge for performing regular job duties
• Night-time operations or call outs for emergencies that occur outside of normal work hours
• Lifting of a maximum of 50 pounds will be required. Manual lifting of more than 50 pounds requires assistance

Work Schedule

Work hours are 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Thursday.
