Job summary

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks a skilled operator for the District 05/Unit720. You will run a lowboy and a range of heavy equipment, support roadwork, and assist with traffic control and material handling.

Starting pay is $22.52/hour with a top rate of $40.53/hour. Work hours are 6:00 am–4:30 pm, Mon–Thu. DOTD is an equal opportunity employer and encourages applicants with diverse backgrounds.

• Operates lowboy which includes a variety of tractor-trailer combinations.
• Operates heavy equipment such as asphalt distributor (truck mounted), backhoes, frontend loaders, motor graders.
• Performs duties as directed, e.g., shoveling asphalt, digging footings, placing traffic control devices, loading/unloading materials.
• Performs minor repairs, services, maintenance, and cleans equipment per manual and manufacturer recommendations.
• May be required to perform other duties including emergency/disaster support activities.

This position is located in District 05/Unit720 of the Department of Transportation and Development and reports directly to the Highway Foreman 2.

Job Duties and Other Information

• Operates lowboy which include a variety of tractor-trailer combinations.
• Operates the heavy equipment as needed such as asphalt distributor (truck mounted), backhoes, frontend loaders, motor graders, etc.
• Perform duties as directed, such as shoveling asphalt, digging footings for setting concrete forms, placing traffic control devices, delivering, loading and unloading materials and/or equipment, flagging traffic, operating power and/or hand tools, etc.
• Performs minor repairs, services, preventative maintenance, and cleans equipment in accordance with operator’s manual and manufacturer’s recommendations to keep equipment operating efficiently and safely.
• May be required to perform other duties as necessary, including but not limited to, emergency/disaster support activities.

Compensation: Starting hourly rate is $22.52/hr and the maximum is $40.53.
