Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP in Tampa, FL is seeking an experienced Transportation - Highway Engineer to join our team. You will develop roadway designs, produce construction plans for FDOT and local agencies, and support design-build and P3 initiatives.

The ideal candidate has 5–10 years in highway design, a Civil Engineering degree, a Florida PE or ability to obtain within 6 months, and strong communication and teamwork skills. Travel to project sites and offices is expected.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of highway/roadway design experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Florida Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Strong knowledge of FDOT standards, specifications, and procedures.
• Proficiency with MicroStation, Geopak, InRoads, OpenRoads, and/or AutoCAD.
• Experience with 3D design and Design-Build or P3 is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative mindset with a desire to grow professionally.
• Willingness to travel to project sites, client meetings, and other offices as needed.

Responsibilities

• Developing roadway designs and producing construction plans for FDOT and local agency projects
• Designing horizontal and vertical alignments, roadside features, and maintenance of traffic (MOT) plans
• Coordinating utilities, preparing specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports
• Supporting design-build and alternative delivery projects, including P3 initiatives
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and mentoring junior staff
