Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Task Leader to support and lead the technical delivery of highway design projects across New England. This mid‑ to senior‑level role remains hands‑on while growing into broader leadership responsibilities.

The position can be based in Boston, MA; East Hartford, CT; or Manchester, NH, with hybrid work flexibility. You will mentor junior engineers and collaborate with PMs on complex DOT projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 10 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery of highway design tasks from concept through PS&E.
• Develop and review roadway alignments, design criteria, construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Provide day-to-day technical oversight to ensure quality, schedule, and budget objectives are met.
• Mentor and review work performed by junior engineers; provide technical guidance and support.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and Project Technical Leaders on complex DOT projects.
• Review designs for compliance with federal, state and local standards; sign and seal documents as required.
• Perform site reviews and field studies to support constructible, real-world design solutions.
• Support proposal and task order efforts, including scope development and technical review.
