Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Task Leader to lead highway design delivery across New England. This role stays hands-on while growing into a broader leadership position, with hybrid work options in Boston, MA; East Hartford, CT; or Manchester, NH.

You will mentor junior engineers, review designs for compliance with federal, state, and local standards, and collaborate with Project Managers on complex DOT projects. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering.
• PE license is required.
• 10 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead highway design tasks from concept to PS&E.
• Develop/review alignments, criteria, construction plans, specs, and estimates.
• Oversee day-to-day technical work ensuring quality, schedule, and budget.
• Mentor junior engineers; provide technical guidance.
• Collaborate with PMs and leaders on DOT projects.
• Review designs for compliance; sign/seal documents.
• Conduct site reviews/field studies for constructible designs.
• Support proposals and scope development with technical reviews.
