Job summary

The State of New Hampshire Department of Transportation, Bureau of Highway Design, seeks a Highway Design Project Manager to lead multi-disciplinary teams in designing highway and bridge projects in CONCORD, NH. This role emphasizes project leadership, policy alignment, and effective stakeholder engagement in a full-time capacity.

Qualifications include a terminal degree in engineering or a bachelor’s in engineering with an MBA and PE licensure, plus several years of civil engineering

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of civil engineering experience after PE licensure (master’s+experience path).
• Education substitutions allowed per policy: more education can replace work experience and vice versa.
• Proven ability to manage highway/bridge design projects and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage multidisciplinary engineering teams during design phase of highway/bridge projects.
• Represent the Department at public meetings, hearings, and discussions with officials and stakeholders.
• Administer consulting agreements, authorize payments, and negotiate amended fees.
• Provide coverage in absence of senior managers to ensure continuous project development.
• Advise on department policies and programs to Directors and Commissioners.
• Coordinate to ensure consistent interpretation and enforcement of department policy.
• Assist Bureau of Construction in resolving construction-phase conflicts.
• Seal and sign design documents per department policy.
