Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Highway Engineering Intern to be based in Morgantown, WV with a Spring/Summer 2027 start. Interns gain hands-on experience on medium to large transportation projects under supervision of a professional engineer.

You will support roadway, structures, and traffic groups, perform calculations, draft construction plans, and build analytic and design skills as part of a collaborative team in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field and must have completed at least 1 year of study.
• Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree at the conclusion of the internship.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrate effective time management, task prioritization, and strong interpersonal skills.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License preferred to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices when public transportation is not available.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to the roadway, structures, and traffic engineering groups on highway design projects.
• Support design staff on engineering calculations, quantity calculations, cost estimates, construction plans, and supporting materials.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-based, collaborative environment.
