Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Highway Engineering Intern to be based in Morgantown, WV. This internship will begin Spring/Summer 2027 and offers hands-on experience on medium to large scale highway projects.

You will gain skills in design, calculations, and drafting under supervision of experienced engineers, with a hybrid work arrangement in Morgantown and opportunities to grow with a global infrastructure leader.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field and have completed at least one year of study.
• Recent graduates may apply if continuing with a Master's degree.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to the roadway, structures, and traffic engineering groups on highway design projects.
• Work under engineers to support design staff on engineering calculations, quantity calculations, cost estimates, construction plans, and supporting materials.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-based, collaborative environment.

Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Highway Engineering Intern to be based in Morgantown, WV.

This position is expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2027.

Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well‑rounded learning experience within their field of study. As an Engineering Intern, you will gain experience working as part of a team on medium to large scale transportation projects in the Greater Pennsylvania Area. You will build analytic and design skills, create designs, perform calculations, and draft construction plans under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Provide support to the roadway, structures, and traffic engineering groups on highway design projects.
• The intern will work under the direction of engineers to support design staff on engineering calculations, quantity calculations, cost estimates, construction plans, and supporting materials.
• Ability to work effectively in a team‑based, collaborative environment.
• Computer‑Aided Design Production

Qualifications

• Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field and must have completed at least 1 year of study. Candidates who have recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficient in MS Office Suite.
• OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, and/or AutoCAD familiarity.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Additional Information

• Relocation assistance is not offered position.
• Sponsorship for U.S. employment authorization is not available in the future for this position.
• This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in office work in Morgantown, WV. The selected candidate must be available to work in Morgantown, WV on a scheduled basis.
