Job summary

MoDOT Willow Springs Regional Office is seeking an Engineering Student Intern to assist highway design projects, ranging from technician to entry-level professional, under moderate supervision.

Responsibilities include using CAD software to prepare design plans, attending public meetings, and researching historical highway plans. Applicants must be enrolled in an ABET-accredited program with 30 credit hours and a minimum GPA of 2.0.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a relevant bachelor’s or post-bachelor’s degree program full-time (12 credit hours); for engineering candidates, program must be ABET-accredited.
• Must have completed/accepted 30 credit hours toward current degree program.
• Maintain an overall GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Responsibilities

• Assist highway design projects, including bridge replacements and resurfacing, using engineering software and preparing reports and environmental statements.
• Utilize CAD/Drafting software to prepare design plans and compute quantities.
• Delineate right of way on plans and print maps for survey research.
• Attend public meetings and prepare handouts, displays, and project overviews.
• Research historical databases and locate highway plans for designers, the public, contractors, and utility companies.
