Job summary

Martin County is currently accepting applications for a full-time Highway Technician. The role assists in design and drafting of construction plans using CAD, collects data with surveying equipment, and inspects field operations.

The position requires knowledge of MnDOT standards, and involves bridge inspection data entry, material testing, and coordination with the maintenance crew. Certifications must be achieved within one year of hire.

Qualifications

• Two years of formal training or associate’s degree in a technical field.
• One year of progressive related experience or two years of related training plus one year.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Certifications within one year: Aggregate Production, Bituminous Plant/Street, Grading & Base.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design and drafting of construction plans.
• Conduct field surveys and data collection.
• Inspect grading, base, bituminous, and concrete work.
• Perform material testing for MnDOT standards.
• Maintain project records and testing data.
• Update MnDOT technical books.
• Coordinate with public and agencies on projects.
