Job Summary

This series exists to provide and preserve a safe and efficient transportation system for the traveling public. Positions will be assigned based on experience and qualifications.

Job Duties

• Highway Operations Worker: Entry-level position involving operation of motorized vehicles and equipment, pavement care, landscape care, roadside repairs, signing and striping, delivery of materials, environmental compliance, and vehicle care.
• Highway Operations Tech 1: Apprentice role with training to perform advanced duties similar to the above.
• Highway Operations Tech 2: Responsible for intermediate highway duties and supervising staff, including scheduling, inspecting, and training.
• Highway Operations Tech 3: Full journey classification with high-level duties and supervisory responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Candidates should have relevant experience, varying from 6 months to 3 years depending on the position, including operation of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment, pavement care, and landscape maintenance.

Requirements & Preferences

• Obtain Arizona CDL (Class A) permit within 90 days; full license within 6 months.
• Possess a Class A CDL with tanker endorsement before start date.
• Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
• Must respond to emergency call-outs, lift/carry 50 lbs., and drive as an essential function.
