Job summary

Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is hiring a Construction Transportation Technician I/II to support highway construction projects in Hurricane, UT. The role involves inspection, materials testing, and documentation to ensure work is performed safely and per plans.

The position may be filled at Technician I or II level, with progression through UDOT’s Construction Training Program (CTP). Starting pay ranges from $22.44 to $26.73 per hour, with benefits and potential overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must have CDL Class A or be able to obtain one within 12–18 months through UDOT training.
• Must report to the Hurricane Office within a 30-minute response time and be available 24/7 for emergencies.
• Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Must complete required training and certifications through the Construction Training Program (CTP).

Responsibilities

• Assist with inspection and documentation of UDOT construction projects.
• Perform materials testing to ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Monitor contractor work to verify it meets project plans and standards.
• Document construction progress using department software systems.
• Work with contractors and project teams to support successful project completion.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Assist with roadway maintenance operations after training, including snow removal when needed.
