Job summary

GPI in Frankfort, KY is seeking Highway and Bridge Construction Inspectors for KYTC projects in the Louisville/Frankfort area. Openings range from entry-level to senior-level; candidates must be able to work independently and with a project team, and adapt to contractor hours including nights and weekends.

GPI is a multi-discipline engineering firm with over 50 years of experience delivering transportation infrastructure and building systems.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.
Associate's degree or higher in Construction Management/Technology/Civil Engineering preferred.
KYTC or other DOT construction inspection experience preferred.
Certifications: ACI Field Testing Technician Level I, KYTC Aggregate Sampling Technician, Asphalt Paving Best Practices, Structural Inspection Level I, and KEPSC-RI certifications or ability to obtain.
Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel and basic computer skills.
OSHA 10 or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

Perform daily field inspections and observations of contractor work on highway/bridge projects.
Measure, compute, record, and maintain contract quantities.
Read and interpret project plans, specifications, and standards.
Perform material sampling and testing per project standards.
Ensure work/materials meet standards.
Document daily project progress including conformance and workforce.
Enter and record progress, materials, payments, in Word/Excel, SiteManager, LIMS, or similar.
Identify issues and communicate with project managers and contractor.
Identify, assess, and communicate unsafe conditions.
