Job summary

Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. (GPI) seeks candidates for highway and bridge construction inspector roles to support projects across Maryland. Work includes day or night shifts, weekends, and independent or team-based tasks on multiple county sites.

Qualifications

• MDOT SHA/MDTA or other DOT Construction inspection experience preferred.
• Certifications such as MDOT SHA Yellow Card and MARTCP testing are desirable.
• NICET certification is a plus but not required.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily field inspections and observations of contractor work on heavy highway and bridge construction projects.
• Compute and record contract quantities for payment and verify readings.
• Read and interpret project plans, specs, and standards.
• Sample and test materials per project standards and specifications.
• Ensure contractor work/materials meet project standards and specifications.
• Document daily progress, conformance, staffing, equipment, quantities, and any extra work.
• Enter and record project data in Word/Excel or other electronic systems.
• Identify and communicate project issues to project managers and contractors.
• Identify, assess, and communicate unsafe conditions on site.
