Job summary

Middlebury College is seeking a Learning Designer to partner with college faculty to advance teaching and student learning across the curriculum. You will identify goals, design assignments, and deploy tools (including AI) to support diverse learners and evolving teaching contexts.

The role requires a Master’s degree and at least two years of relevant experience in higher education, with strong communication and program leadership skills. This is a full-time position with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required; Ph.D. or terminal degree preferred.
• At least two years of higher education teaching and learning related experience.
• Knowledge of evidence‑informed approaches to college teaching and learning.
• Ability to develop relationships with faculty and work across disciplines.
• Broad knowledge of digital and emerging technologies used in teaching, including generative AI.

Responsibilities

• Consult with faculty on learning goals and course design and assessment.
• Develop relationships with departments and programs through proactive outreach.
• Develop knowledge of digital technologies and AI applications for teaching.
• Partner with faculty to implement appropriate pedagogical approaches and tools.
• Lead faculty development programs and communities for teaching practice.
• Support inclusive and accessible learning experiences for diverse students.
• Create resources to help faculty independently use effective teaching practices.
• Collaborate with academic leadership to align skills with strategic priorities.
