Job summary

Brown University’s Sheridan Center for Teaching and Learning seeks a Learning Designer who collaborates with faculty to design inclusive online courses for new online graduate programs. The role focuses on applying learning sciences, design methodologies, and technology expertise to a broad portfolio while supporting digital pedagogy across courses.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in learning sciences, education, or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in instructional design and/or online course design in higher education.
• Experience supporting faculty with designing fully-online asynchronous programs or multi-modal programs.
• Postsecondary teaching and/or training experience.
• Experience applying adult learning theory and learning design methodologies.
• Experience applying project management methodology to instructional projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1-1 consultation to assigned faculty on instructional technologies and learning principles.
• Plan and manage online course development projects and related initiatives.
• Facilitate development and review of educational media assets and QA/usability testing.
• Collaborate with design, media, and technology professionals to ensure on-time delivery within scope.
