Job summary

The University of Houston College of Optometry is seeking a Financial Coordinator (Level 1 or Level 2) to oversee financial operations for the Dean's unit. This role includes reconciliation, reporting, payroll coordination, and procurement tasks within a university ERP environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum three years of directly job-related experience.
• Experience in higher education financial operations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with enterprise financial systems (e.g., PeopleSoft or similar ERP).

Responsibilities

• Maintain and reconcile financial accounts and monitor unit revenues and expenditures.
• Coordinate cash handling, petty cash, travel reimbursements, and related processes.
• Prepare ad hoc financial reports and assist with budget cycles.
• Update internal accounting systems for posting and reconciliation to the FRS.
• Oversee staff in preparation of vouchers and travel documents; train staff on financial procedures.
• Serve as liaison to Grants and Contracts for financial issues and participate in annual budget development.
• Process invoices, reimbursements, and journal entries; support payroll and procurement activities.
