The University of Houston, Electrical Engineering Department, seeks a detail-oriented financial coordinator to oversee the unit's fiscal operations in Houston. This role coordinates accounts, reports, payroll-related duties, and compliance with university policies.

Responsibilities include reconciling accounts, managing cash handling, preparing budget documents, and guiding staff on financial procedures, with collaboration with grants offices and management.

Qualificações

• Requires basic grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions (percentages, ratios) as would be learned with a high school diploma or GED.

Responsabilidades

• Maintains and reconciles financial accounts and monitors revenues and expenditures for the unit.
• Coordinates the cash handling function for the unit, including petty cash, gift transmittals and travel reimbursements.
• Compiles recurring and ad hoc financial reports for management and faculty, assists with budget cycles and advises on accounts status.
• Updates and maintains an internal accounting system which provides the database for posting and reconciliation to the Financial Reporting System (FRS).
• Oversees and schedules duties for staff and/or student workers in vouchers, requisitions, SCRs, and travel documents; oversees filing of financial documents and data entry.
• Trains staff in the preparation of financial documents in compliance with university and college/division policies and procedures.
• May coordinate and maintain the payroll function for the unit; may coordinate property inventory and serve as property custodian for the unit.
• Researches and corrects reconciliation discrepancies with reallocations and journal vouchers.
• May serve as liaison to Office of Grants and Contracts regarding financial issues.
• Participates in the annual budget development process.
• Performs other job-related duties as required.
