Job summary

Siena Francis House is seeking a Kitchen Staff member to plan, prepare, serve and clean up meals for up to 500 people per meal, three meals a day. The role supports the kitchen manager with inventory and organization of pantry, freezer, walk-in, dining area, and loading dock, and trains volunteers and vocational workers.

Leading shifts independently, you will ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation, document records, and work with a diverse population while maintaining HACCP standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Minimum two years in a high-volume, fast-paced food service environment.
• Food Manager Certificate preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, nutrition, cleaning and sanitation procedures.
• Provide orientation and safety instruction to volunteers; offer feedback when necessary.
• Ability to receive and give direction and constructive coaching as development opportunities.
• Ability to use hand-held tools, devices, instruments and automatic equipment.
• Maintain thorough records on food, supplies and meal counts.
• Demonstrate problem solving and decision making skills.
• Work flexible hours to cover kitchen operations.
• Work with and understand a diverse population.
• Demonstrate basic math skills for measurements and portions.
• Maintain regular, punctual attendance.
• Follow approved menu preparation, delivery and service protocols within timelines.
• Maintain clean, stocked, service-ready work areas per HACCP.
• Assist with appropriate inventory of food and supplies including dating and rotation.
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
