Job summary

Hitachi Energy USA Inc in Earth City, Missouri seeks a High Voltage Test Engineer to operate a mobile HV test trailer, perform applied and partial discharge testing, evaluate results and support transformer service activities.

You will work with customers, field crews and engineering teams to ensure accurate testing of transformer equipment, travel 40-50% from Earth City, and prepare technical reports in compliance with IEEE, IEC and NEMA standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with 5+ years of experience, or 10+ years transformer experience.
• Experience performing transformer testing and supporting field service operations.
• Knowledge of IEEE, IEC, and NEMA industry standards.
• Experience using Microsoft Office 365 and preparing technical reports.
• Hands-on experience performing low voltage testing such as winding resistance, turns ratio, excitation, and power factor is preferred.
• Willingness to travel; travel expectations 40%-50% Earth City, MO (and between 50%-60% if based remotely).
• Candidate must have work authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate a mobile high voltage test trailer system.
• Perform applied voltage, induced voltage, partial discharge localization, and temperature rise testing.
• Investigate potential sources of partial discharge and develop corrective action plans.
• Analyze electrical test data and oil DGA results.
• Calibrate testing equipment.
• Maintain the electrical and electronic components of the mobile test system.
• Prepare technical test reports and test plans in support of proposal activities.
• Provide technical support to field crews and communicate with customers.
• Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
