Job summary

HITACHI ENERGY USA INC. is seeking a High Voltage Test Engineer to support Transformer Services by performing high voltage testing at customer sites and aiding field operations.

Based in Earth City, MO, you will operate mobile test equipment, evaluate test results, and prepare reports to ensure equipment reliability and power system integrity. Responsibilities include testing for applied/induced voltage, partial discharge localization, and temperature rise; identifying PD sources; and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field with 5+ years of transformer experience, or 10+ years in transformer work.
• Experience performing transformer testing and supporting field service operations.
• Knowledge of IEEE, IEC, and NEMA industry standards.
• Proficiency in preparing technical reports and using MS Office 365.
• Willingness to travel up to 40–60% depending on location.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate a mobile high voltage test trailer system.
• Perform applied voltage, induced voltage, partial discharge localization, and temperature rise testing.
• Investigate sources of partial discharge and develop corrective action plans.
• Analyze electrical test data and oil DGA results.
• Calibrate testing equipment and maintain mobile test systems.
• Prepare technical test reports and test plans for proposals.
• Provide technical support to field crews and communicate with customers.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and procedures.
