Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a collaborative Substation Designer (CAD Technician) to join its energy consulting team.

You will prepare schematic and wiring diagrams for high voltage substations and renewable interconnections, working with engineers and other drafters to ensure accuracy and adherence to schedules. The role requires a minimum 3 years of CAD experience, AutoCAD proficiency, and an Associate degree in Design & Drafting Technology or related field.

Qualifications

• CAD experience drafting engineering deliverables and schematics.
• Ability to collaborate with engineers and other drafters to resolve discrepancies.
• Experience producing single line, three line, and wiring diagrams for high voltage substations.
• Familiarity with BOM importation and annotation on drawings.
• Self-checks to ensure accuracy before review.

Responsibilities

• Prepare schematic and wiring diagrams for high voltage substations and renewable interconnections.
• Create and edit multiple types of drawings (SLDs, 3-line, functional diagrams).
• Incorporate tables and calculations (e.g., BOMs) into drawings with clear notes.
• Coordinate with engineers and consultants to meet project schedules and quality requirements.
• Provide interdepartmental support and assist in project delivery.
