The High Voltage Engineering team handles preconstruction and construction/commissioning for high-voltage facilities (35kV to 500kV) associated with renewable energy plants. We seek a passionate substation engineer to oversee high-voltage projects across the Central and Eastern US. This role requires technical expertise and relationship-building with suppliers, consultants, and utilities.

This position reports to locations in Glen Allen, VA; Arlington, VA; Charlotte, NC; Houston, TX; New York, NY; Philadelphia, PA.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Design and engineering activities for Solar, Wind, and BESS substations (35kV to 500kV).
2. Manage IFC design packages for collector substations.
3. Maintain relationships with high-voltage contractors.
4. Review EPC designs for compliance with standards and interconnection agreements.
5. Provide design review and technical advice.
6. Review power system studies (load flow, short circuits, harmonics, etc.).
7. Coordinate with interconnection providers for substation design.
8. Support substation commissioning and testing coordination.
9. Potential for leadership growth within the engineering team.
10. Collaborate with project teams across various disciplines.
11. Travel up to 25%, primarily in the Central and Eastern US.

Minimum Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems focus.
• 3+ years of substation design experience.
• Ability to read control schematics for HV equipment.
• Basic knowledge of power system modeling and grid integration for renewables.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Project management experience with HV EPCs.
• PE Licensure.
• Experience with engineering packages (IFPs, IFCs).
• Knowledge of ETAP, PSLF, PSS/E, relay testing, and SCADA systems.
