Job summary

Amentum seeks an Electrician, High Voltage to support a government contract based in Kings Bay, Georgia. Performs journey-level work on HV systems above 600V, including 12.47 kV energized work, with a focus on safety and reliability.

Responsibilities include repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of HV controls, transformers, relays, and distribution equipment. Must be willing to shift work and meet security clearance requirements.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Must have HV apprenticeship or 2+ years journey-level HV experience on 12.47 kV+ systems.
• Familiar with electrical test equipment for routine maintenance/repair of HV transmission and distribution equipment.
• Capable of safe hot-glove work on energized systems.
• Must obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance; US Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Repair, troubleshoot, maintain, and replace HV electrical controls, motors, switches, transformers, relays, breakers, and associated distribution equipment.
• Work at heights, including bucket truck operations.
• Perform safe phasing and hot-glove work on energized systems (12.47 kV and above).
• Willing to work holidays, weekends, and various shifts.
• Use standard tools of the trade and follow safety requirements.

Job description

Amentum, a global leader in critical mission support, engineering, technology, and national security solutions, is seeking an Electrician, High Voltage to support a government contract based in Kings Bay, Georgia.

Under general supervision, works at journey level performing duties associated with voltages above 600 volts. Must be familiar with safe working practices and requirements for Phasing and Hot Glove work on energized 12.47 kv systems and above.

Will repair, troubleshoot, maintain, and/ or replace electrical controls, motors, switches, general street and security lighting, transformers, relays, breakers, and associated overhead/ underground distribution manuals for maintenance of oil and air circuit breakers and AC/DC power supply and control systems. Must be willing to work holidays, weekends, and perform shift work. May perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Must have at least one of the following:
  • Completed a High Voltage Apprenticeship Program such as that offered by Jacksonville Electric Authority.
  • Verifiable work history while performing journey level work on High voltage generation and distribution systems of 12.47 kv and above for a minimum of two years.
• Must be familiar and knowledgeable with various types of electrical test equipment in the performance of routine maintenance/repair of associate High Voltage transmission and distribution equipment.
• Must be capable of performing safe Hot Glove work on all energized systems as required.
• Must have knowledge of switches, transformers, and their hookups.
• Will be required to work at various heights, including from a bucket truck.
• Must be CPR certified.
• Must possess the standard tools of the trade.
• Must always have and wear, hard toed safety shoes which meet ASTM F2413-05 standard.
• Successful candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must continually meet eligibility requirements for access to all areas of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

• $42.08

Pay Premiums & Compensation Add-ons

• Shift Differential: Extra $1.75–$2.00/hour depending on shift start time.
• Hazard Pay: $3.00/hour for designated high-risk work areas.
• Lead Pay: Additional $2.25/hour for lead roles (temporary or permanent).
• On-Call Pay: Two hours of overtime pay per day when on call during off-days/holidays.

Safety & Equipment Benefits

• Safety Shoes: $175 annual allowance.
• Prescription Safety Glasses: Up to $250 annually (per policy).
