Job summary

The Power Distribution Specialist at Vanderbilt University Maintenance and Operations (VUMO) maintains the electrical distribution system powering the University and Medical Center. The role emphasizes attention to detail, analytic thinking, and reliability of the system.

Reporting to the CoGen Assistant Manager, this non-supervisory position works with Electrical Engineers, contractors, and vendors to perform testing, maintenance, and inspections of high- and medium-voltage equipment across

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record.
Minimum 5 years of experience in the field.
At least 3 years in high voltage electrical operations.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Test 13,800 volt and 4,160 volt transformers, breakers and switches.
Calibration of 13,800 volt relays and 4,160 volt relays.
Change out 13,800 volt relays and 4,160 volt relays.
Operate 69,000 volt and lower air break disconnects, circuit breakers and associated equipment during standard and emergency switching procedures.
Inspection of newly installed switch gear as well as existing switch gear preventative maintenance.
Install and test electric meters on 13,800 volt and lower circuits.
Inspect cables and equipment in underground vaults and tunnels.
Test motor starters on equipment.
