Job summary

ALS is seeking a GC‑ECD / GC‑FID Analyst to operate, maintain and troubleshoot GC systems in a fast‑paced environmental lab. You will perform analyses under EPA methods 8081, 8082, and 8015, maintain calibration and QA data, and ensure defensible results for regulatory compliance and site remediation.

The role emphasizes strong data integrity, collaboration with senior analysts, and adherence to SOPs in a high‑throughput setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
• 2–4 years hands‑on experience operating GC‑ECD and GC‑FID instrumentation in an environmental laboratory.
• Experience with EPA 8081, 8082, 8015 or equivalent GC‑based methods.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality and defensibility.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot GC‑ECD and GC‑FID systems in a regulated production environment.
• Prepare, sequence, and analyze calibration standards, QC samples, and analytical batches per method requirements.
• Maintain instrument logs and run documentation in accordance with quality system requirements.
• Evaluate chromatographic data for integration accuracy and reporting limits; perform data review as required.
• Ensure compliance with EPA, state, client, and accreditation requirements; support QA and internal audits.
