Job summary

Antora Energy is seeking a Materials R&D Process Technician to join the materials development team at our vendor's GrafTech facility in St. Marys, PA.

In this hands‑on role, you will execute high‑temperature experiments using production scale furnaces and supporting equipment, collaborating with engineers to advance novel materials for thermal energy storage. You will set up tests, operate instrumentation and DAQ systems, and maintain clear, thorough documentation of every experiment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in a technical field, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• 3+ years in hardware R&D lab, test lab, or similar hands‑on technical setting.
• Direct experience operating furnaces, kilns, or high‑temperature equipment.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor production‑scale furnaces and other high‑temperature equipment per engineers.
• Install, configure, and operate DAQ systems, thermocouples, and sensors to capture data.
• Maintain notebooks and digital test records; compile data summaries and charts.
• Perform routine calibration, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs on instruments.
• Keep experimental area organized, stocked, and compliant with safety protocols.
• Track consumables and support sample inventory and traceability.
• Follow EH&S procedures for high‑temperature work and chemical handling.
• Suggest improvements to test setups and data workflows; contribute to SOPs.
• Collaborate with engineers to interpret results and adapt plans.
