Job summary

Antora Energy in San Jose, CA is seeking a self-driven R&D Test Operator to support around-the-clock testing of full-scale and subscale thermal battery experiments as we move toward commercialization.

You will join the R&D Test Engineering Team, operate high-power test systems via SCADA/HMI during shifts, handle installations and pre/post-flight checklists, and help maintain a safe, efficient test environment.

Qualifications

• Operate high-power, high-temperature (>2000 °C) test systems via SCADA/HMI during shifts.
• Monitor system health, alarms, and perform safe shutdowns when needed.
• Install/uninstall test articles and execute pre-/post-flight checklists for experiments.
• Support commissioning of TES modules, subscale rigs, and balance-of-plant systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
• Document anomalies and maintain detailed operational logs for teams.
• Read mechanical/electrical schematics and assist with building and repairing systems.
• Be the on-call point of contact during off-hours shifts.

Responsibilities

• Operate high-power test systems via SCADA/HMI during shifts.
• Monitor alarms, respond to unsafe conditions, and perform safe shutdowns.
• Install/uninstall test articles; execute pre-/post-flight checklists.
• Support commissioning of TES modules and test rigs.
• Perform maintenance and basic troubleshooting across systems.
• Document anomalies; communicate with test engineering teams.
• Read schematics; assist with building and repairing BP systems.
• Act as primary contact during off-hours shifts.
• Provide on-call and emergency response at the site.
