Job summary

KLA Industries is seeking a PCB Design Engineer in Austin, TX to design complex high-density multilayer PCBs for aerospace, defense, and industrial applications. You will work with cross-functional teams to translate concepts into manufacturable layouts while optimizing SI/PI and reliability.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of PCB layout experience with Mentor Xpedition, strong HDI knowledge, and hands-on experience with BGA/QFN FPGA layouts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
• Expertise designing complex high-density multilayer PCBs for aerospace, defense, networking, telecommunications, embedded computing, or other high-performance electronic products.
• 2+ years of professional PCB layout experience using enterprise-class tools, with Siemens Mentor Xpedition strongly preferred.
• Extensive experience with Mentor Xpedition Layout, DxDesigner, and related design libraries and constraint management tools.
• Proven experience translating electrical schematics into manufacturable PCB layouts while collaborating with hardware engineers.
• Strong background designing high-speed digital PCBs with DDR4/DDR5, PCIe Gen4/5, high-speed Ethernet, impedance control, and differential routing.
• Experience designing dense multilayer boards (14–24+ layers).
• Strong knowledge of HDI technologies including vias, microvias, and advanced stack-ups.
• Hands-on experience with BGA, QFN, FPGA layouts, SMT, and through-hole technologies.
• Strong understanding of SI, PI, fabrication/assembly processes, DFM/DFT principles.

Responsibilities

• Develop sophisticated multilayer PCBs that power advanced embedded computing platforms for aerospace, defense, and industrial applications.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, systems, and test engineers to translate concepts into manufacturable layouts.
• Support architecture discussions, design reviews, fabrication, and production, optimizing signal integrity, power integrity, manufacturability, and reliability.
