Uncommon Schools seeks a High School Visual Arts Teacher in New Jersey to lead art courses across multiple mediums, helping students build strong portfolios and prepare for postsecondary pathways.

You will design engaging lessons, integrate art history and cultural context, and collaborate with grade-level teams to support student growth while maintaining an inclusive, high-expectation classroom environment. Compensation ranges from $56,000 to $77,000 with DOE and full-time benefits.

Responsabilidades

• Teach Visual Arts content across multiple mediums (drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media).
• Design engaging lessons that build technical skills, artistic voice and creative risk-taking.
• Develop coursework to support portfolio development for advanced study or exhibitions.
• Integrate art history, culture, and contemporary practice to strengthen critical thinking.
• Align instruction to standards and instructional expectations.
• Create formative and summative assessments to track growth and mastery.
• Collaborate on curriculum development and grade-level planning.
• Maintain a structured, inclusive classroom with consistent rewards and consequences.
• Hold high academic and artistic expectations and monitor student progress.
