Job summary

Sylvania High School District is seeking a qualified High School Student Support Aide to provide individualized assistance to a student during the school day, ensuring safe access to programs and active participation in school activities.

The role emphasizes collaboration with school staff, adherence to student support plans, and discretion. Prior paraprofessional experience and strong communication are preferred to effectively support the student’s needs.

Qualifications

• Paraprofessional, instructional aide, caregiver, personal care assistant or similar student support experience preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with students requiring individualized support.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism per laws, District policies and procedures.
• Ability to follow established procedures, training requirements, and supervisory direction.
• Strong communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Assist the student with accessing and retrieving necessary personal and educational items, including items stored in the backpack.
• Provide assistance with student transfers in the restroom per procedures and the student’s needs.
• Assist the student in the cafeteria, including help with obtaining lunch and navigating routines.
• Support the student’s access to and participation in educational and school activities throughout the day.
• Collaborate with school personnel and follow student support plans, District protocols.
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet the student’s identified needs.
