Job summary

Qualifications

• Paraprofessional, instructional aide, caregiver, personal care assistant or similar student support experience preferred.

• Ability to follow established procedures, training requirements, and supervisory direction.

Responsibilities

• Assist the student with accessing and retrieving necessary personal and educational items, including items stored in the backpack.
• Provide assistance with student transfers in the restroom per procedures and the student’s needs.
• Assist the student in the cafeteria, including help with obtaining lunch and navigating routines.
• Support the student’s access to and participation in educational and school activities throughout the day.
• Collaborate with school personnel and follow student support plans, District protocols.
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet the student’s identified needs.

High School Student Support Aide

The District is seeking a qualified and dependable individual to provide individualized support to a high school student during the school day. The selected individual will assist the student with identified needs in order to support the student's safe access to educational programs and participation in school activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting the student with accessing and retrieving necessary personal and educational items, including items stored in the student's backpack.
• Providing assistance with student transfers in the restroom, in accordance with established procedures, training, and the student's individual needs.
• Assisting the student in the cafeteria, including support with obtaining lunch and navigating the lunch routine.
• Supporting the student's access to and participation in educational and school-related activities throughout the school day.
• Working collaboratively with appropriate school personnel and following all applicable student support plans, procedures, and District protocols.
• Performing other duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature of the position and necessary to meet the student's identified needs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience as a paraprofessional, instructional aide, caregiver, personal care assistant, or in a similar student support role is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students requiring individualized support.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in accordance with applicable laws, District policies, and procedures.
• Ability to follow established procedures, training requirements, and supervisory direction.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Compensation

Base Pay: Compensation will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement and established salary schedule. Placement within the appropriate pay range will be determined based on applicable contractual provisions, including adjustments for recognized years of experience and/or years worked.

Additional Compensation: Due to the extended and specialized duties associated with this assignment, the position will include a Letter of Agreement outlining additional compensation for duties beyond the standard responsibilities of the position. Any supplemental compensation will be subject to the terms and conditions outlined in the Letter of Agreement and administered in accordance with applicable collective bargaining agreements, District policies, and procedures.

Duration of Assignment

This assignment is anticipated to continue for the duration of the student's enrollment and attendance in the school setting, subject to the student's ongoing needs, educational programming, staffing requirements, and District discretion.

The assignment may be modified, reassigned, or discontinued based on changes in student needs, enrollment, educational placement, staffing, funding, or other operational considerations, consistent with applicable law, District policy, and collective bargaining agreements.
