Job summary

Fort Bend ISD seeks a dedicated SPED HS educator for SAILS/ABC programs, delivering instruction across academic, behavior, communication, and independent living skills. The role emphasizes data-driven progress, collaboration with families, and adaptive strategies within a structured setting.

The ideal candidate will hold EC‑12 SPED certification, ABA training, and CPI readiness, with strong planning and interpersonal abilities to support students’ diverse needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
• Valid Texas Teaching Certification appropriate to subject/grade.
• Valid Special Education Certification EC‑12.
• De‑Escalation/Restraint (CPI) certification preferred or required.
• Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) training within one year of hire.
• CDL certification preferred if coaching a UIL sport.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with parents, students, and school/community personnel to develop measurable IEP goals aligned with TEKS.
• Plan and implement curriculum with appropriate modifications and adaptations.
• Document student progress with logs, data collection on IEP targets and behavior, and progress updates.
• Administer and analyze student assessments including state tests and informal assessments.
• Develop PLAAFP statements and annual goals based on assessments.
• Prepare and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans based on IEPs, including accommodations/modifications.
• Supervise paraprofessionals, aides, volunteers, or peer tutors.
• Utilize adaptive equipment and assistive technology per ARD decisions.
• Apply behavioral strategies from ARD; use restraints only when necessary to ensure safety.
• Support basic needs of students with disabilities (hygiene, feeding, positioning, etc.).
• Participate in professional development activities.
