Qualifications

• Master's degree from an accredited college or university is required.
• Certification in special education is required.
• Texas secondary education certification preferred.
• Valid Texas Administrator's certification or licensed professional counselor's certification.
• Minimum 4 years of experience as a secondary classroom teacher.
• Ability to lead, motivate, and collaborate with others.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with general and special education teachers, school administrators, and parents to support students with disabilities.
• Serve as liaison between campus and Instructional Support Center.
• Provide technical assistance to instructional staff on the teaching/learning process.
• Mentor general education teachers in implementing IEP accommodations and modifications.
• Design behavioral interventions with teachers and assistant principals for students with behavioral difficulties.
• Schedule student staffing to resolve concerns for students, teachers, or parents.
• Chair multi-campus IEP meetings.
• Act as administrative representative for IEP meetings as requested by the principal.
• Assist with organizing the state assessment process for students receiving special education services.
• Monitor progress in the STAAR-Alternate implementation.
• Serve as the transition and State Performance Plan contact.
• Assist with programming and course selection for students with disabilities.
• Attend regular special education staff meetings and supervisor meetings.
• Keep abreast of current issues and methodologies in education of students with disabilities.
• Regular attendance is an essential job function.
