Job summary

Westbrook Public Schools seeks a Full Time Special Education Teacher for the high school. The role focuses on designing individualized instruction and supporting students with diverse learning needs in a collaborative setting.

You will develop IEPs, deliver tailored instruction, and monitor progress while working with general education teachers, parents, and support staff to foster an inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Connecticut certification in special education (065,165,265) required.
• Experience in a school setting is desirable.
• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field is required; Master’s preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate with a team of educators, support staff and families.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with parents, administrators and professionals to create tailored IEPs.
• Deliver instruction using research-based strategies in reading, math and writing.
• Develop lesson plans focused on student needs and background.
• Implement and monitor IEP goals with progress data and reporting.
• Maintain accurate records and prepare progress reports for families and staff.
• Attend IEP meetings and stay informed on best practices and legal requirements.
