Job summary

Salem Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Teacher for high school to collaboratively support learners with disabilities. You will design and deliver individualized instruction, implement IEPs, and ensure access to the general curriculum while employing inclusive practices.

You will coordinate with paraprofessionals, ESOL and clinical staff, maintain data on student progress, and participate in professional learning communities to advance equity and student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Massachusetts certification in special education required.
• SEI endorsement required within 1 year of start date.
• Ability to meet Massachusetts teaching standards and indicators of effective practice.
• Dual certification is a plus; Spanish proficiency a plus.
• Proficiency with technology (G-Suite, Remind, blended learning) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with core teachers to ensure students with disabilities access the curriculum and learn at high levels.
• Provide specialized instruction with accommodations per IEPs and progress monitoring.
• Develop and implement IEPs and behavioral interventions; work with paraprofessionals.
• Administer, interpret, and report findings from standardized evaluations; remote assessments possible.
• Attend IEP meetings and present student progress; collaborate with families and community agencies.
• Engage in professional development and contribute to a positive, inclusive school culture.
