Community of Peace Academy is an urban public charter school located on the East Side of St. Paul Minnesota serving over 900 students in grades PreK to 12. We are seeking a High School Special Education Teacher to join CPA’s Special Education team for the 2025-2026 school year. The Special Education Teacher will provide direct and indirect academic and behavioral instruction and support to eligible students in a resource setting and in the general classroom in accordance with individual IEP needs. The Special Education Teacher will also oversee due process requirements for the students on his or her caseload, direct the work of program paraprofessionals, collaborate with classroom teachers and administrators in support of student academic and social/emotional success, monitor student progress and facilitate due process meetings.
The qualified applicant will hold a MN Teaching license in ASD, ABS, SLD or EBD. They will have a strong background in academic and social/emotional skills instruction and in behavior management. The qualified applicant will also possess strong cross-cultural communication and collaboration skills with students, families and staff, and will demonstrate an unyielding commitment to helping all students attain high academic and ethical standards of performance.
Special Education Teachers manage a 15 student caseload and have allocated time within the school day to complete and work on Due Process. In addition, Special Education Teachers are supported at CPA by a full-time, on-site Special Education Coordinator, a Due Process Specialist and a Special Education Coach. All new teachers are paired with a Mentor.
