Job summary

School District 27J (Inc) seeks a Special Education Paraprofessional - Intensive Needs at Brighton High School (9-12). This role provides direct academic and behavioral support to students with severe disabilities, including life skills training and personal care as delegated by the School Nurse.

The position offers 8.5 hours per day, Tue–Fri, 9-month schedule, with benefits; starting pay $21.66/hour, dependent on experience, with a career-long duty to maintain student records and collaborate

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as Behavior Intervention Plans, IEPs, and staff handbooks.
• Ability to collect data, write routine reports and simple correspondences.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic math.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction and/or academic support and supervision for students with social/emotional disabilities in accordance with their IEPs.
• Modify academic materials and/or classroom environment under direction from teachers.
• Identify and facilitate peer relationships and natural supports.
• Follow through with behavior intervention plans and ensure safety in school areas.
