Job summary

Northshore School District 417 seeks a High School Special Education Paraeducator to assist with instruction, behavior development, and life skills for students in Learning Center settings. May support one-on-one with students per IEP and work closely with certificated staff.

Position involves collaboration with teachers, families and the wider school team, with duties ranging from tutoring to material preparation and progress tracking.

Qualifications

• Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• One of: passing score on PESB-approved assessments; associate degree or higher; or 72 quarter credits / 48 semester credits at 100 level or higher.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training or equivalent required.
• Completion of Washington State Core Competencies for Paraeducators within 3 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with learning, behavior, social, daily living and development.
• Provide tutoring and assist with organization and lesson adaptation under teacher guidance.
• Lead small group activities and help prepare instructional materials.
• Support student behavior management and safety, including de-escalation.
• Collaborate with teachers and families as part of the special services team.
