Job summary

Wells Academy in Pontiac, MI seeks an effective classroom teacher to deliver high-quality instruction and partner with the school leader, colleagues, students, and families to meet academic goals.

You will plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with state standards, collaborate with instructional coaches, and contribute to school-wide initiatives to support diverse learners and advance literacy and numeracy goals.

Qualifications

• State teacher licensure/certification with appropriate endorsements.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in the subject area; plan to become highly qualified if not currently.
• Strong commitment to young people's learning and achievement.
• Experience in tutoring/teaching and in student/parent relations.

Responsibilities

• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and enforce behavior policies.
• Plan lessons aligned to state standards and school curricula.
• Develop and submit lesson plans, and incorporate feedback from instructional coaches.
• Collaborate with special education staff to support inclusive education and IEPs.
• Work with staff to implement grant-funded programming to accelerate learning.
• Maintain accurate records and protect student confidentiality; ensure compliance with regulations.
• Communicate regularly with parents and engage them in their child’s learning.
