Job summary

Wells Academy seeks an engaged classroom teacher to provide high-quality instruction and collaborate with school leaders, colleagues, students, parents, and the board to meet educational goals. The role emphasizes implementing the academy curriculum and pursuing short- and long-term academic objectives.

The teacher will collaborate with instructional coaches, plan lessons aligned to state standards, and support inclusive education for students with diverse needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with subject area emphasis required.
• State teacher licensure/certification with appropriate endorsements.
• Demonstrated commitment to student learning and achievement.
• Experience in tutoring/education-related work and working with students and parents.

Responsibilities

• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and enforce behavior rules.
• Plan a program of study aligned with state and school standards.
• Develop lesson plans and submit for review; work with instructional coach for feedback.
• Plan and ensure curriculum alignment with state standards.
• Collaborate with special education staff to implement inclusive practices and IEP accommodations.
• Participate in grant-funded programs to accelerate learning for diverse students.
• Maintain accurate records and confidentiality of student information.
• Communicate with parents and be available outside normal hours to discuss student progress.
• Maintain professional competence through ongoing professional development.
• Inform school leadership of needed instructional resources and participate in school teams.
• May participate in extracurricular activities.
• Other duties as assigned.
