Job summary

Goodwill Legacy Group in Indianapolis is seeking a part-time School Nurse at Indy Metropolitan High School. The role provides direct nursing care, health assessments, care coordination, health education, and emergency response while promoting a safe and healthy school environment.

You will collaborate with students, families, school staff, and community partners to address health barriers to learning, maintain confidential records, and comply with HIPAA and FERPA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent preferred.
• Current Indiana RN license in good standing or ability to obtain before start date.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain upon hire.
• Experience in school health, pediatrics, or public health nursing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports students in overcoming health-related barriers to attendance, engagement, graduation, and post-secondary success.
• Assesses student health concerns and provides nursing interventions within the scope of professional nursing practice.
• Administers medications and treatments according to physician orders, parental consent, and school policies.
• Responds to illness, injury, and medical emergencies during school hours and activities.
• Develops and monitors Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) and Emergency Action Plans (EAPs).
• Maintains accurate health records, immunization records, and HIPAA/FERPA compliance.
