Job summary

Nimble in Indiana seeks a Registered Nurse to lead the school health program, cooperate with medical authorities, and protect student health to support learning outcomes. You will plan, implement, and evaluate health policies and collaborate with school staff and families.

The role requires administering medications, maintaining health records, conducting mandated screenings, and contributing to IEP/IHP processes while staying current with health research and best practices.

Qualifications

• RN license and prior nursing experience with children and/or a school setting.
• Strong academic background in health services and health education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates in developing, implementing, and evaluating school health goals and procedures.
• Implements screening programs mandated by Indiana law including hearing and vision.
• Develops and maintains a system for providing first aid and emergency care.
• Manages finances and maintains inventory of health and safety supplies.
• Critiques and utilizes current research in school, child, and family health.
• Identifies hazards that may affect environmental health and safety of students and staff.
• Administers medications and treatments per physicians' orders and policies.
• Compiles and reviews student health records, including immunizations.
• Identifies health problems through assessments and health histories.
• Participates in developing a student’s IEP and IHP as needed.
• Provides health education and counseling to students.
• Assists in planning staff training on health issues and safety procedures.
• Assists learners and parents in locating community health resources.
• Communicates health needs to parents and staff within legal guidelines.
• Prepares reports for Superintendent and State Board of Health as required.
• Maintains professional development and performs other duties as assigned.
